History & Mission

Learn how Stewart's Caring Place got started from Mimi Surloff.

Stewart’s Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center mission is to provide a caring, relaxed environment offering supportive services and programs for individuals and families on their cancer journey.

Stewart's is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that began as a grassroots effort led by the family and friends of Dr. Stewart Surloff whose cancer journey ended in the fall of 2001. During his life, Stewart shared the struggles and triumphs of his cancer experience and taught us that "There is more to cancer than chemotherapy and surgery." Today, Stewart's carries on his legacy by providing support services, free-of-charge, to individuals and families touched by cancer.

We strive to be an exemplary resource for needed cancer support services while being a sustainable community-based organization. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with cancer, hope and compassion can be found here.

We want your visit to be relaxing and comfortable, and encourage you to bring family and friends. Reservations help us to prepare for your visit, however, they are not required. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us.

Programs and services include lectures and workshops, a resource center, healing arts, community referrals, movement classes, counseling, attorney consults, children and family programs, support groups and wigs.

All of our services are free of charge thanks to all of our gracious donors.
