Support Groups

Potential group members are encouraged to make a commitment to consistent attendance.


General Cancer Support Group
Mondays, May 20, June 17, July 15, Aug. 19: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Our General Cancer Support Group was created for people diagnosed with any type of cancer whoa re interested in meeting others for mutual support on their journey.
Please note this group is for cancer patients only.

Caregiver Support Group
Mondays, May 13 & 27, June 10 & 24, July 8 & 22, Aug. 12 & 26: 6:00pm – 7:30pm
Providing care for a loved one with cancer can be emotionally and physically challenging. This group provides education and emotional support for those that are helping someone with cancer. To maximize the benefit of support for the group, consistent attendance is appreciated.

Grief and Loss Support Group
Tuesdays, May 14 & 28, June 11 & 25, July 9 & 23, Aug. 13 & 27: 11:00am-12:00pm
An ongoing support group for adults who have lost a loved one to cancer. This group will provide participants time to share with others, gain empowerment and education, and be surrounded in a supportive environment.
Facilitated by a hospice social worker.

Gynecologic Oncology Support Group
Tuesdays, May 7 and 21, June 4 & 8, July 2 & 16, Aug. 6 & 20: 4:00pm-5:30pm

Finding support among other women with ovarian, cervical, and other female-specific cancers can be an important part of the survivorship process. Facilitated twice monthly by a nurse, this group is dedicated to supporting other women through their journey with gynelogical cancer.
This group is for women only with ovarian, cervical and other female cancers, focusing on newly diagnosed, recurrences and being a survivor. 
Facilitated by an oncology nurse.

Man to Man Group® for Prostate Cancer
Wednesdays, May 8, June 12, July 10, Aug. 14: 7:00pm – 8:30pm
This group provides education and promotes emotional support to assist in the prostate cancer recovery process.
Support persons are also encouraged to attend.
Co-sponsored with the American Cancer Society.

Renal Cancer Group
A support group for anyone experiencing kidney cancer. Call 330.836.1772 for dates and times.
Facilitated by cancer survivor, Donna Moore, RN.


Breast Cancer Support Group
Tuesdays, May 14, June 11, July 9, Aug. 13: 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Thursdays, May 23, June 27, July 25, Aug. 22: 6:00pm – 7:30pm

The Breast Cancer Support Group is for women touched by breast cancer including newly diagnosed individuals, those in treatement, and those that have completed treatment. This group provides a warm community of education, emotional support, and a time to share your concerns.
An oncology nurse and licensed clinician facilitate this important resource group.

Spirituality & Cancer Group
Thursdays, May 2 & 16, June 6 & 20, July 18, Aug. 1 & 15: 9:30am – 11:00am

This group is open for those who are interested in exploring and talking about spiritual issues and how they relate to coping with cancer. Meetings are twice monthly on the first and third Thursday of the month.

This interfaith group is co-facilitated by Eileen Schonfeld, RN, and Lin Barnett, MDiv.

 

Art Therapy Group
Tuesdays, May 21, June 18, July 16: 6:30pm-8:00pm
Art therapy can  be an important part of the healing process for individuals who are looking for a creative outlet to help them cope and express their emotions. In this program, adult participants will learn ways to incorporate are into their healing journey. No art experience is necessary.

Led by board-certified, registered art therapist and clinical counselor.
