One-to-One Counseling
Licensed clinicians are available to meet with individuals or families touched by cancer for
short-term counseling sessions at SCP. Please call for an appointment.
Loving Link
Loving Link connects cancer survivors or caregivers with those newly diagnosed with cancer. Call or stop in to begin the matchmaking process.
Blood Cancer Group
A group for those with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma cancers to gain insight, information and resources, while sharing concerns and gathering support in a relaxing environment. Group meets third Thursday of each month at 6:00pm, starting in September. Co-sponsored by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
ManTalk Group
Come for a continental breakfast with Andy Davis, MSEd, PCC and other men who are supporting spouses, partners, parents, friends or adult children with cancer. This group provides opportunities for emotional support, sharing the challenges of maintaining balance in life with workplace, relationships, finances, grief issues and intimacy issues. Learn coping skills to achieve and maintain optimum mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health during the cancer journey. Group meets the second Saturday of each month at 9:00am.
Women’s Breast Group
Education, emotional support and sharing concerns are the goals of this group. For women of all ages throughout the breast cancer experience. An oncology nurse and mental health counselor facilitate this important resource group. Caring friends and family members welcome to attend. Group meets second Tuesday and fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00pm.
Renal Cancer Group
An ongoing support group for anyone experiencing kidney cancer led by survivor, Donna Moore, RN. Donna has served on the International Board for Renal Cancer and volunteers as an advocate for those experiencing cancer. Group meets the third Wednesday of each month from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
Gynecologic Oncology Support Group
For women only with ovarian, cervical and other female cancers. Focusing on newly diagnosed, recurrences and being a survivor. Facilitated by an oncology nurse and cancer survivor. Group meets first and third Tuesday of each month from 4:00pm to 5:30pm.
Man-to-Man Group® for Men and Their Families Facing Prostate Cancer
Provides education and promotes emotional support to assist in the recovery process. The Akron group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm at Stewart’s Caring Place. The Green group meets the third Wednesday of each month at Greensburg United Methodist Church, 2161 Greensburg Road, Green, Ohio 44232. Co-sponsored with the American Cancer Society.
Advanced Cancer Group
Unique concerns arise for those who are living with recurrent or metastatic cancer. This group will offer opportunities to
discuss issues faced by others experiencing similar challenges and explore ways to move forward. Facilitated by counselor Ellen
Cleary on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm.
