In its 15 year, the Annual Stewart’s Caring Place Hope Walk is thrilled to introduce Hope Walk Takes a Hike, a reimagined version of the event to maintain social distance while building camaraderie and fun selfie style competition. Stewart’s Caring Place is proud to partner with Summit Metro Parks, Medina County Park District, Downtown Akron Partnership, and others for the 2021 Hope Walk Takes a Hike event.

Held Sunday May 2nd through Saturday May 8th, Hope Walk Takes a Hike registrants will be encouraged to get out into nature and enjoy a walk on favorite or new trails throughout the entire week at a time and on a day that’s convenient for them. Funds raised provide support programs and services at no cost to individuals and families touched by cancer.

Dr. Joseph Blanda is the 2021 Hope Walk Takes a Hike Honorary Chair. Blanda’s son, Joe was diagnosed with an incurable form of brain cancer called glioblastoma at age 17 in October 2012. Blanda and his wife Dr. Michelle Blanda helped Joe start Blast Glioblastoma, to raise dollars for brain tumor research. Joe Blanda passed away in October 2015 at the age of 19. Nature helps Blanda deal with loss and through his website and social media, he shares resources and ideas to encourage people to get closer to nature. Blanda is a recently retired orthopedic surgeon.

Registration is $20 and includes a Hope Walk T-Shirt. More details to come.
